The path of the Gods.
Guided hiking trail from Bomerano (Agerola) to Nocelle (Positano).

Percorsi di montagna Positano.
Itinerari di montagna Positano.

Why is this mountain trail so denominated? The reason is simple. The natural path runs so close to heaven that it seems at directly contact with Olympia. Not only. All this area cherish the memory of wonders, miraculous events and facts. If Naples is proud of the miraculous liquefaction of St. Gennaro’s blood, Amalfi is not far behind. In the magnificent Cathedral every year recurs the miracle of the production of the “manna”. It is a fluid that exudes from St. Andrea’s relics. Churchgoers soothe it for wounds or even they drink it. The effects seems to be really prodigious.                              Off the coast of Positano, on the other hand, in the three island named by the Romans: Sirenum Petrae (today Li Galli), sailed Ulysses, who was enchanted by mermaids  and get safe only because he was bounded to its ship tree.

But let’s go back to the beauty of this hiking trail: it is a path overlooking the sea that can be contended without risks and efforts (nevertheless having good physical condition), that finally reaches the seashore in the enchanted village of Positano. You will enjoy a breathtaking view on the villages of Praiano, Montepertuso, Positano, and as far as the headland of the Sorrentine Peninsula and the island of Capri. This itinerary will take you into the calm of the altitude and the Mediterranean brushwood with holms, cistus, heather, rosemary and some other typical aromatic plants.

Itinerary:

The path begins at the plateau of Agerola (from the Latin “ager” that is “camp”), still very cultivated, a heaven-place for farm holidays thanks to the coolness and the good food. Leaving the latest hamlets of Agerola, that overlook the see, you begin hiking over a steep and wild part, where the path suddenly seems to disappear into the void. It is a very old pedestrian natural path, used in the past for transfers in altitude, from the see to the terraces and from these to woods or to another slope of the Amalfi Coast. Different grottos open along this karst relief mountain.
The village Montepertuso is representative of them : its name “pertuso” means hole, cavity. Actually a very big hole goes through the rock and lets see the blue sky. You will be told that the Madonna caused it because she was braved by devil, so she put her finger on the cliff in order to pierce it and make the devil rush into the vacuum. Today this hole is also a famous climbing site thanks to the great limestone and the extraordinary landscape.
